Frequently asked questions

In Halifax, students who apply for residence are accommodated in Shirreff Hall. In Truro, students are accommodated in Trueman House.

If you currently live in the building being used for summer residence on your campus, we will try to keep you in your current room, however depending on the house you live in this may not be possible. If you live in other residences, you will need to relocate to the summer residence building for your campus.

Meal plan information will be announced later. Please check back.

Meal plans are not currently available for summer residence students on the Truro campus. The dining hall will be open at various times over the summer.

No. Summer residence offers flexible arrival and departure dates. Unlike academic-year residence, students do not need to stay the entire term. A 2-week minimum stay is required.Ìý

You will move to Summer Residence after exams have concluded on your campus. See the Important dates and deadlines page for more information. Details on moving will be sent out directly to those to which this applies.

The charges for summer residence will be posted to your Student Account all at once (just like they are during the academic year). They will be dueÌýMid-May. The due date will be communicated to you clearly upon application. If you are staying for one month or all summer, all the charges are due on this date.

We have Residence Life Managers/Residence Dons and Community Assistants/Community Housing Leaders available for all summer residence students, as well as a 24-hour front desk*.

* Front desk open during daytime hours in Truro, on-call assistance available after-hours.

How to apply

Choosing residence life at º£½ÇÉçÇøapp is easy. Just follow the steps below to complete your online Summer Residence Application.

Step#1: Visit Dal Online

You will need to login toÌýÌý(NetID login required).ÌýThe NetID is usually two letters from your name, followed by six digits. Example: xy999999

Once you’ve logged in

  • select the 'Web for Students' link in the menu or click the 'Student' tab
  • then follow the links toÌýResidence Application
  • once in theÌýResidence Application Hub, selectÌýthe applicable year in the drop down menuÌý
  • Under theÌýSummer ResidenceÌýsection, selectÌýCreate Your ApplicationÌý
  • Answer all of the needed questions and select your preferences
  • There is aÌý$50 residence application feeÌýpayable within the online application
  • Your application is complete when you get a confirmation email to yourÌýº£½ÇÉçÇøapp email
