Work鈥慖ntegrated Learning

The College of Sustainability offers work-integrated learning opportunities for students to apply their knowledge and skills in an environment outside the classroom:

• Gain relevant work experience with sustainability-related work terms alternating with academic study terms.
  
• Apply the knowledge and skills you learn in-class to the workplace.
• Test and explore careers, develop professional skills, and establish a network you can tap into after graduation.
• Earn an income while earning your degree. Graduate with experience!
  

Sustainability Co-operative Education (Co-op)

Sustainability Co-op involves three paid work-terms alternating with academic study terms. Co-op students apply their knowledge directly in three sustainability-related jobs, providing opportunity for progression of skill development and exposure to different careers. Students graduate with meaningful work experiences that inform career choices and facilitate employment post-graduation.

Eligibility

Sustainability Co-op is available to BA and BSc students with ESS as a Major subject, with a GPA of at least 3.0. Students apply during winter term of their first year in the ESS program. Applicants should be on their way to completing the first year ESS requirements for their program and must complete SUST 2000 and SUST 2001 before starting the first work term in the summer after second year.

Sustainability Work Experience Program (WEP)

The Sustainability Work Experience Program (WEP) involves a single paid work term, usually in the third year of the ESS program. Students in Sustainability WEP develop professional skills and competencies and explore a career option in an applied experiential learning context. Students graduate with a meaningful work experience that informs career choices and facilitates employment post graduation.

Eligibility

Sustainability WEP is available to BA, BSc and BCD students with ESS as a Major subject, with a GPA of at least 3.0. Students usually apply during winter term of their second year in the ESS program. Applicants must be in a position to complete SUST 2000, SUST 2001, and SUST 3000 prior to their first work term in the winter or summer of third year.
