Information Session: 2026-2027 Competitive Mooting
First and second-year Schulich Law students interested in learning more about competitive mooting are invited to an information session with Associate Professor Liam McHugh-Russell.
The session, which students can attend in person or virtually, will provide an overview of the law school's competitive moot program, describe the individual moots offered in the 2026-2027 academic year, and explain the criteria, processes, and timelines for moot team selection.
The selection process for moot teams is somewhat complicated and takes place in May, between the release of winter marks and the beginning of course registration.
To become a member of a team for a competitive moot, a student will need to:
- Apply for the individual moot;
- Send in a centralized preference form;
- Be ranked by the coaches;
- Be matched to a moot team by the moot committee;
- If chosen for a moot team, students are given approval to register in the course for the corresponding moot.
Given these complexities, anyone who hopes to participate in a competitive moot next year or who is curious about competitive moots is strongly encouraged to attend.
