The MacRae Library was filled with colour and creativity February 26 during the ninth annual Faculty of Agriculture Fine Arts and Crafts Exhibit reception, which drew more than 40 attendees from the campus community.

On display until April 4, the exhibit features 70 works by students, alumni, staff and faculty in a wide range of media, including polymer clay sculptures, rug hooking, woodworking, ironwork, quilting, photography, paintings and prints. The pieces reflect the diverse talents and creative interests across the Agricultural Campus.

Many works explore themes connected to agriculture, science and the natural world, including conservation, biodiversity and life cycles. Highlights include animal sculptures, a photograph of milkweed in seed, and a hooked rug for sale with proceeds supporting marine conservation.

The reception featured a performance on Highland smallpipes by George MacIntosh, a musician, alumnus, and artist, who also had two pieces in this year鈥檚 art show.

Curator Stephanie Peach has participated in the show since its inception. She says the show has helped her build confidence in her artistic abilities and relishes showcasing the beauty in science. 鈥淭he exhibit shows that creativity and science are deeply connected. The same curiosity and care that drive our research and studies are reflected in the art created by our campus community.鈥

After nine years, the exhibit is a valued campus tradition. It remains on display in the library until April 4, inviting the campus community to pause, explore, and experience the creative energy that thrives on the Agricultural Campus.
