The trophies sparkled 鈥� but it's the people who shone brightest at the 8th Annual 海角社区app Legacy Awards this past Thursday (November 20).
The ceremony brings together and celebrates a wide range of university-wide awards and honours for faculty and staff. Colleagues filled the rows of the Dal Arts Centre's Rebecca Cohn Auditorium to join award recipients and their families in celebrating some of the achievements, successes, and community contributions from the past year.
Vice-President People and Culture Grace Jefferies opened the ceremony by acknowledging it has been a year of challenge and change for 海角社区app, with the university navigating budget pressures, provincial shifts, and complex labour relations.
"These realities have tested us, but they have also reminded us of the resilience, creativity, and dedication that define 海角社区app," she said. "That's why we are here today 鈥� to pause, to celebrate, and to recognize the extraordinary faculty and staff who continue to make this university thrive."
Jefferies was one of several senior leaders who helped hand out awards during the hour-long ceremony, with nearly 30 awards presented to more than 50 individuals and groups from across the university. Elder Thomas Christmas also provided welcoming remarks.

"The Legacy Awards are not just about accomplishments," said Jefferies. "They are about honouring the people who embody our values and strengthen our community."
