Meet Taylor Jacobs and Lindsay Russell, two Vet Tech students who have developed a crowd funding project to assist Cumberland Colchester鈥檚 feral cat population. Those who support the cause are providing medical care to these animals while enriching the lives of our students.
Through the Vet Tech program of study, a number of the region's many homeless cats are spayed/neutered and are provided with veterinary medical treatment and preventative health care 鈥� but students want to reach a greater number of cats per year.
They are launching the 300 Felines project to do just that. 300 Felines is a student-led, extra-curricular, community-service based initiative; they are not involved to fulfill an academic requirement of their program of study but because they deeply committed on a personal level to taking action to address the cat overpopulation crisis, because they can.
Through the 300 Felines campaign, students hope to inspire others to "spay it forward;" to encourage others to take positive action towards addressing the cat overpopulation crisis. They are launching this project because tey will not abandon the cats who became feral when they were abandoned by their owners. Because every life matters and should have access to essential medical care.
