The Department of Plant and Animal Sciences welcomes Dr. Lord Abbey to the Department and the 海角社区app Agricultural Campus as the new Assistant Professor, Amenity Horticulture.听
Dr. Lord Abbey comes to us from Assiniboine Community College in Manitoba where he worked as an Instructor/Researcher, Horticultural Production. He is a registered Professional Agrologists and a member of the Canadian Society for Horticultural Science (CSHS) and the International Society for Horticultural Science (ISHS). He was a member of the advisory committee for Internationally Educated Agrologists in Ontario where he also mentored Articling Agrologists and worked as Greenhouse/Horticulture Co-ordinator. He also worked as a Research Scientist in Ghana and the UK with special interests in plant eco-physiology, postharvest and sensor technology.
He obtained his BSc (Hons) Agriculture from Ghana and M.Sc and Ph.D in Horticulture and Plant Physiology/Postharvest from the UK. Lord also has a Diploma in Pharmaceutical Research and Development from Canada. He is credited with more than 30 peer-reviewed articles and numerous conference papers. He has presented at national and international conferences in Canada, UK, The Netherlands, USA and Ghana. He was the editor for the Agrologists magazine and recently submitted a book chapter for publication and is currently authoring a new book on novel teaching and learning principles and process.
Lord is very passionate about sustainable food systems, community work, teaching, research and innovation. His current research interests include plant eco-physiology, agro-ecology of market-garden systems, health-related sustainable food systems, greenhouse microclimate studies, compost science and value addition, plant nutrient release dynamics and sensor technology.听 听
